New England Lab was honored to host I²SL New England’s August Educational Tour/Event at our showroom and product training center. Chapter members and guests learned about the chemical fume hood selection process, new hood products, and ASHRAE 110 standard fume hood containment testing.

FUME HOOD SELECTION Speaker: Pam Greenley Associate Director of EH&S - MIT Pam shared her expertise of fume hoods to establish safety boundaries as part of the hood selection and purchasing process. Finishing off the discussion, she listed off the seven best practices for pre-purchase testing.
	NEW HOOD PRODUCTS Speaker: Rand Weyler Technical Services Manager - NEL Rand briefly introduced new and upcoming safety products associated with fume hoods such as the Dueperthal active storage cabinets, the HLudi reconfigurable media ceiling, the NovaGuard high performance fume hood by Mott and the New England Lab exclusive Flux Red fume hood safety light.
ASHRAE 110 DEMONSTRATION Speaker: Andy Sinnamon Technical Specialist - Mott Manufacturing Andy demonstrated the basics of the ASHRAE 110 test. He explained the equipment used, the measurements required, and discussed pass/fail criteria and how the ASHRAE 110 test compares to the European Standard EN 14175-3.
