New England Lab was recently awarded Dana Farber Cancer Institute's Longwood Expansion project. The 154,100 sq. ft. expansion into the 11-story building will serve as a crossroads for Dana Farber's genome-based technolgoies and related clinical trials. The new operation will play a central role in the hospital's efforts to create a new era of cancer treatment that is "less toxic" and more "individualized" than current methods.
The expansion will include five laboratory and research divisions in the four floor levels at Longwood Center. The largest space, 33,700 sq. ft., will be used as a biology laboratory. The second largest space, 33,200 sq. ft., will house chemistry/biology lab space. Another 19,100 sq. ft. space will serve as a stand-alone chemistry lab. Lastly, a fourth space of 10,300 sq. ft. will house a glass-sterilization facility, providing shell space for a planned zebrafish laboratory.
For this project, NEL will be supply our painted metal casework, stainless steel casework, and wood casework. Fume hoods, Optima benches, phenolic and plam casework and shelving will also be provided.
Dana Farber plans for a 2014 move-in date.
