To establish a connection between the BioPark, UMB, and the University of Maryland Medical Center, a state-of-the-art facility called 4MLK will be constructed at the intersection of Martin Luther King Jr's Boulevard and Baltimore St. This 8-story, 250,000 sq. ft. facility will serve as a hub for scientists, innovators, experts, and entrepreneurs who are at the forefront of scientific and technological advancements. Equipped with cutting-edge technology, the labs in this facility will offer essential wet laboratory space in downtown Baltimore, providing a flexible and open environment for researchers and companies. New England Lab, in collaboration with The Whiting-Turner Contracting Company and Ewing Cole, has been chosen to provide advanced lab solutions for this project.
To facilitate the setup, three-tier, 12" island core benches will be installed in the space, along with overhead service carriers, to offer researchers an optimal and stable workspace. Epoxy resin tops will provide durability to the lab, enhancing the work surfaces, drop-in sinks, and epoxy pegboards.
In order to prioritize safety and efficiency, the university will also install Pro Series fume hoods, supported by flammable, corrosive, 4-drawer, and single door cabinets. These additions will ensure that users have access to modern, safety-oriented equipment, enhancing their research experience and promoting a community-focused environment.
New England Lab is honored to support the University of Maryland BioPark in advancing their goal of fostering collaboration and encouraging innovation within the realm of human health through the provision of our state-of-the-art laboratory solutions.
